Fans of R.A. Salvatore's-Drizzt Do' Urden, Frizt Leiber's Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser, David Gemmell's Druss the Legend, Raymond E. Feist's Pug the Wizard, and Robert E. Howard's Conan, like The Darkslayer series ... perhaps you will as well.

Only the Darkslayer's death will do! After tasting defeat at the hands of the mythic Darkslayer, the underling Lords Catten and Verbard are determined to once and for all eliminate this thorn in their side. But they'll have to wait their turn ... After a brutal trip through the Outlands, the brash warrior Venir--aka the Darkslayer--returns to the City of Bone. He quickly has his hands full looking out for his young friends Lefty and Georgio, while also trying to score some easy coin with his old ally Melegal the thief. Along the way, Venir faces threats from the Royal houses of Bone, man-urchins, Shadow Sentries, and two dark figures that he'd left for dead once before. Finally, though, Venir leaves Bone behind, only to run into Jarla, Queen of the Brigands--an old flame who wants him dead. And soon after that, the real horror begins, as Catten and Verbard emerge and unleash their worst in the hopes of finally killing the Darkslayer. The mighty Venir soon finds himself in a fight that might just be more than even the Darkslayer can handle.

The 2nd book in the series disappointed me a little bit, considering how I enjoyed the first. This review has some SPOILERS. Make sure you know this before you proceed. SPOILER ALERT.
I like the story of the hero and his companions and that it does not solely focus on a hero with "super" abilities, which he totally has. Mostly the story follows on the main theme from the first book, however the main things that annoy me seem to be the sometimes unnecessary subplots. Some subplots just seem so rushed and end abruptly. Unless there is more to it in the coming books. For example:
1) Tonio and McKnight are brought to life mysteriously, in a weird place. They go about to play their parts in the story but it's never explained who those "spider-men" they woke up among are.
2) Tonio rapidly shifts from a distant and lost person to one with deep emotions. He also shifts rapidly from being obsessed with revenge on Venir to locking himself up in a cell to die apparently.
3) Every once in a while, a few more characters are introduced and they are supposed to be from different parts of the planet, but surprisingly they all have long history with Venir. I don't mind a lot of characters, but sometimes you just lose track of who's who, when some of them are brought for a little bit then are forgotten.

I may be a picky reader, but again, I am still interesting in following up on what is going to happen and I'm really hoping the next books will answer my questions, otherwise I'd be overly disappointed.

The Darkslayer Blades in the Night Book 2 Craig Halloran 9781480258501 Books Reviews

I received a kindle as a gift for christmas/birthday because I have always loved to read and because I started traveling more and more. I love the kindle that I have. I had an app on my old smart phone because I always wanted to read. While traveling, having my kindle helps kill time during waiting periods, especially during lay overs. I have had some lay overs lasting over 10 hours. Having a plethora of kindle books to choice from is fun when I get ready for a trip. I selected this book in the middle of a binge purchase and I am glad I did!

I enjoy sinking my teeth into a quick read of all types of genres and being able to just stick my head into a different world allows me to escape from the world and any current stress. I love both fiction and non-fiction, allow the world of fiction reads allow you explore a new place without having to go far. I can read through a 300 page book in two days, I love connecting with a story and a character. There is a great joy from completing a good book. I can read while listening to music or even watching tv. I really do not like when someone interrupts me when I read, I can get so engrossed that I do not want to pull out and entertain conversation. The worse is when people want to talk about the book you are trying to read. If you wanted to have a conversation, you would not be reading. I do not understand why people think it is find to just randomly start conversations that are not needed.

I have found that the kindle fad has started to dwindle, but it is a great innovation that I am happy to have because of that access to millions of titles and I look forward to downloading more as I plan more travels and can travel to new worlds in my head before traveling to new lands.
This was one of my favorite books. this book was so interesting that I tried to get the third one but it isn't out yet. The dialogue is really intriguing and the characters are expertly detailed. My main concern for readers is the grammer and way the words are wrote. Sometimes a sentance will be jumbled up but u still can tell what it says. The story of it all is the best part. SPOILER ALERT although I would like to know more about eeps end. This is all I have left to say if you want a long story that has a Strong background and a great storyline then this book will be great and for anyone.anyone that puts a 4 or under is not a big reader, I've read 400 or 500 page books. in one day. I've read anything from The count of Monte-Cristo to the great Demonsouled series to Arrowsmith. And trust me when I say that since I've read arrowsmith I can pretty much read and understand any book you put in front of me. This is an amazing book and one of my favorites( even up there with Enders Game and Sphere and even The count of montecristo) I highly suggest this book and all the others ive read but whatever you do don't mess with the Royals.
Plenty of exciting action, especially when one of the two puts on his super charged armour! After reading the second book, I went ahead and bought the other three books in this 5-book series. Hopefully they'll be more books written about The Darkslayer in the near future!
I bought all 6 Books and I'm just in the process of reading the 3rd Book. I like the story line and plan to read them all in session. If You like Fantasy like I do, I'm sure you'll enjoy them.
These characters clicked with me instantly in book one. It's pure entertainment to turn these pages
This series of books is quite interesting. It is a good departure to the regular style of Medieval novels, and has quite a few creative twists and turns. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a good read. The chapters are quite easy to breeze through,as a chapter change is always related to changing the POV to another character in the story line.
If you are the type of person that thought that the LOTR trilogy should have been published as one book you will be happy with this series. Though each book is 300 pages or so there are six of them! So, a good 1800 pages more or less. And the author has other books.

Of course the editing could be better. If you are the type that abhors an error every forty pages or so feel free to skip these books. If you can put up with a few editing mistakes for the sake of a good, flowing, story that compels you to read every word - thereby noticing the slight errors - this is for you.
